About The Artist

My childhood was filled with hours of running through the woods with my sisters building tree forts behind our house. You would most often find me on “journeys” reenacting the Old West days with baby dolls strapped to my back, moccasins (or nothing) on my feet, and wearing a pioneer outfit. When I wasn’t homeschooling, writing, playing in the woods or milking cows on the hobby farm, I was drawing horses.

The last few years have been a really neat journey; I found an amazing man to “travel west” with, and we added to the wagon 4 wonderful children who love the outdoors as much as we do! Raising an old-fashioned family in today’s world has been a challenging endeavor to say the least, but never has “going against the grain” been so filled with blessings and joy! God has called us to a trail filled with purpose and adventure, and we are blown away by His plans for our lives!

12 years later, shortly after wrapping up the diaper-changing phase, I started sketching again. In 2023, I hesitantly tried oil painting… and have been hooked ever since!

So, on with the adventure we go! I still spend a lot of time homeschooling, barefoot, and drawing horses… only in the middle of this crazy, beautiful life filled with more family I love. Experience of both hard and happy seasons has only deepened my love for the USA’s rich history, and the men and women who came before us and shaped our great country.

Cowboys, pioneers and Indians spill onto my canvas, and I strive to honor the past by telling their stories with my paintbrush!

May you love the trail less traveled and find your Guide to lead you through the wilderness… because there awaits your best adventure!

Love,

Lydia and the Reese Family

What is “Tetelestai?”

  τετέλεσται - "It is finished"

This phrase comes from the Greek word, τελέω
It is a verb - an action word meaning to complete, to finish, to fulfill, to accomplish.

  • In the New Testament, it was used on receipts in business meaning “debt paid in full”

  • In a judicial context for court, it means “fully served”

  • In military context, tetelestai means “battle won"

This quote came from a man in history Who was more than human. Yeshua, son of the Living God, chose this phrase before He gave up His spirit on the cross - at the moment He paid a debt we could never accomplish on our own.

I hide this phrase in each one of my paintings... you won't see it unless you look for it. Like salvation, you won't reach for it unless you know you need it.

I hope you look for the truth, and that it leads you to the love of the Father. I pray you discover everything He gave to offer a path back to Him!

May God bless and keep you, and lead you in the light of His grace!
